Huntress Log: Stardate 53016.5

Lead Huntress Personal Log:  January 7

The events of last night have taken their toll on Dingo.  He’s been sleeping for hours so I’m taking the opportunity to record my personal log.

I great many changes have taken place in the last few weeks.  It was only two weeks ago that Lt. Cmdr. Dingo and I were married after only knowing each other a few weeks.  I know to many, it seemed that it was rushed but I truly feel that this was the right thing for both of us.  Already I find in nearly impossible to see my life without him and wondering what I did before he became a part of it.

We have also adopted a tabby from Wexia, we have named him K’Ress and to our surprise he speaks fluent caitian.  It seems that his feline parents were killed when he was very young, he was then raised by a caitian couple, who in turn killed during an attack in by this universe’s Polar Caits.

While the Polar Caits of my home world are rare, I’ve learned that the Polar Caits of the universe are nearly extinct.  There are only rumors of any having survived.  It doesn’t surprise me at all after learning that there world has been ravaged for its resources and the inhabitants scattered to the wind.

The colony was attacked by the Borg less than a week ago.  Sadly we lost the Vorcha and many of the crew on board but thankfully Belana Torres was not among the casualties.

In an unrelated event, we have lost my dear friend Jenna.  The details are still unclear. It appears that she was on a mission for Annika at the time.  In a strange twist, since the Ares first officer was killed during the Borg attack, Dingo is now in command of the ship.  If this is to be temporary or permanent is yet to be determined.

The ranching operation is still under construction, it has been delayed by the Borg attack.  In the meantime, K’Ress and I are living on the Ares.

Something very unusual happened last night.  I was on the bridge with Dingo watching a lovely blue planetoid on the view screen when what I can only explain as a special anomaly appeared.  Shortly there after a ship that obviously did not belong here appeared, although Dingo appeared to recognize it.  Before we could react, Dingo was transported on board their ship, leaving the entire bridge crew and I stunned.  Just looking at the ship we were hopelessly outgunned.  The Ares was positively tiny in comparison.  In no way did that stop me from taking command and demanding that they return Dingo to us immediately.  I was about to open fire on them when he was returned but not alone.  Dingo had become one of the Caitians' arch rivals the Cainin.  It also seems that Nine has taken control of Dingo’s body.  I did not realize it at first and I nearly had Dingo thrown into the brig just for being on the Ares.  The momentary confusion was enough for Nine to make his escape off the ship.

I’m still trying to process the whole story and some of the facts are vague due to Nine’s interference but Dingo was able to explain some of it to me very late last night.  It seems that a group Cainins have traveled back in time from the 29th century stating that in their time, the Caits and Cainins are on the verge of extinction and that somehow Dingo and I are the key to the survival of both species.  One of their decorated heroes had died and was put into stasis for the trip back to our time.  His brain was removed and replaced with a positronic one. Which was then integrated into his biological system.  Dingo was somehow uploaded to this brain.  Meanwhile Nine managed to take control of Dingo’s body.

It took a little while for Dingo to learn how to work the new body worked and functioned, which of course Nine took full advantage off.  I was even fooled at first into believing he was Dingo but as soon as I heard my beloved Dingo’s voice coming from the Cainin, I knew not everything was as it appeared.

Dingo and I tried to stop Nine but he escaped in a shuttle with the dilithium crystals from the warp matrix.  We will be fine without them but it will take us a while to return home.  Something tells me we have not seen the last of Nine but I do hope that it will not be anytime soon.

Poor K’Ress had the same reaction to Dingo as I did last night when we returned to our quarters.  He once again proved that we have named him correctly.  Despite the great difference in size he had no fear in attacking Dingo when he first entered our quarters with me.  It took quite a bit of talking and reassuring to get our ‘Little Protector’ to understand and accept that this large wolf like creature is indeed the father that he has known.

When Dingo and I first married, I had accepted the fact that since he was an android that we would not be able to have children of our own and that there was a very real possibility that I would grow old and die long before he ever did.  But now that he is a biological being, everything has changed.  There is the possibility that we could have children of our own, although I’m not sure what they would be like given they would be both Cait and Cainin.  Would that perhaps make them Cait/Cains?   I suppose it is much too early to worry about all of this.

It is going to be very interesting to see how we (the entire colony included) adjust to all of these changes.
